The 12-story Hotel, which was unveiled last month, heads to the LCRA this month to receive approval for a tax abatement valued at 90% for 10 years.
The LCRA document also gives us our first breakdown of the cost of the Moxy project. The total cost of the development is slated to be $16,450,000. The total amount of permanent employees is projected to be 40 with 10 additional part-time employees.
The hotel be developed by Iowa based Hawkeye Hotels. That firm is currently renovating the neighboring, and former, Omni Majestic Hotel into a LeMeridien by Marriott. That will open this fall. Dynamik Design of Atlanta is acting at the architect. No contractor has been named and no timeline was given. This Moxy Hotel becomes the second proposed location in the state of Missouri, and the 4th in the Midwest overall. The second Missouri location is proposed in Springfield (rendering below).
Some other projects to be reviewed by the LCRA at their May 21st meeting are the Mill Creek Flats (blighting), 3000 Locust (Redevelopment Agreement), 5539 Pershing (Development Agreement) and the 21c Hotel at the YMCA Building (Blighting Study).
