Keeley Properties, formerly KDG, has proposed a new, 7-story apartment building on the Boy Scouts of America "Greater St. Louis Area Council" office at 4568 West Pine Boulevard. The proposal sits adjacent to the 6-story "The Euclid" apartment building (which has Shake Shack as the headline retail tenant), which the Koman Group developed nearly a decade ago and catty-corner across the alley from the 7-story "Marlowe" apartments, which KDG developed.

The new building, designed by Minneapolis-based architecture firm ESG. They're the same firm designed "The James" in Kirkwood, Subtext Development's under construction "LOCAL" building at 6630 Delmar, and the planned "LifeTime Living" apartment complex at the Boulevard in Richmond Heights. The new building at 4568 West Pine will be clad in a white brick with curves accented by a darker brick and bronze(?) metal. It's a stark contrast from the dark gray "Euclid" building next door, but a more fitting neighbor for the Marlowe.

Per the conceptual design document, the design is inspired by buildings like the Arch Diocese building next to the Cathedral on Lindell, Clayton's former Famous-Barr (now the Washington University West Campus), and other Mid Century designs.

A small parking garage entrance will be located on West Pine at the eastern end of the development site. The total number of apartments has not yet been published and plans do not appear to include retail space.

The proposal is the latest in a solid lineup of new developments in the Central West End that'll continue to make the neighborhood even more vibrant. Other proposals include Albion West End, the Flats at Forest Park, and the Optimist Hotel. The proposal is the second of Keeley's neabry ventures. The other project is located at Clayton Road and Sarah in Cortex. Last fall, the Post-Dispatch reported that the 178-unit apartment building at their "Cortex K" development was expected to begin construction in 2025. Of those 178 apartments, 17 will be designated "affordable".

Park Central Development will be holding a community town hall meeting to discuss the proposal on February 4th at 5:30pm at the Marlowe.
