Just West of the Schnucks on Dorsett (Dorsett & McKelvey Road) lies an old building that was most recently used as a fitness studio. Now, Pier Property Group is under contract to acquire it and is planning to demolish it to build 218 luxury apartments in it's place. The development is to be called, "The Flats at Dorsett Ridge" and PPG has tapped Midtown based Remiger Design for architectural services.

According to a Press Release...

“Maryland Heights has seen such an impressive rise in commercial activity with firms like World Wide Technology, Edward Jones, among others continuing to expand. We are excited to raise the bar on rental housing in the area to go along with it” - Michael Hamburg, Owner - Pier Property Group.

The Flats at Dorsett Ridge are planned to include multiple features that are common in luxury developments today such as a pool, firepit and grilling station, dog park, pet spa, fitness center, yoga room, workshare space, lounge, and more. If all goes according to plan, construction should start in early 2020 on demolition of the existing building. $45 Million is the projected cost of the development.

The development comes at a time when projects along the 270 corridor in the county are multiplying. New apartments, condos, houses, office buildings, and hotels have popped up in the past several years and have filled in numerous gaps. In addition to the Flats at Dorsett Ridge, other developments are in the works by other developers to take advantage of the strong job growth in this part of the County. As to what those projects are, it remains to be seen.

The Flats at Dorsett Ridge is PPG's first project in St. Louis County. Up until this point, all projects have been in the city limits. Other projects that Pier has done include Woodward Lofts, Steelcote Lofts, and Steelcote Crossing. Just recently, construction has started on the Mill Creek Flats project and construction on the Rock Spring School (conversion to 20,000SF of boutique office space) will begin later this Fall.
