According to NextSTL, the St. Louis City Board of Aldermen has approved all incentives and redevelopment plans for the site in the Debaliviere Place neighborhood. The new project, dubbed Chelsea, will be built at 5539 Pershing and make the already dense street denser
The 7 story building will include 150 apartments of which a few will be townhouse units. Those units will be accessible via street level entrances. Other amenities include a third floor amenity deck with a swimming pool and other features such as a fitness center, arcade, pet spa, a private market and a private restaurant.
The Chelsea Apartments are named after the neighborhood in New York City, the same goes for neighboring Tribeca across the street. both developments are being developed and built by Big Sur Construction. The names make somewhat sense since, according to Greg Johnson at NextSTL, Pershing between Union and Debaliviere has the population density of Manhattan Island.
A parking garage is located around back. VE Design Group is the architect. Construction should be completed in Late 2020 to Early 2021.
Big Sur Construction is also building and developing other apartment communities around town. In particular the Whistler Apartments in Soulard and Vinson (formerly Zittlosen Apartments) at 1322 Dolman in Lafayette Square. They also recently developed Tribeca in the Debaliviere Place neighborhood.
