Plans call for the Columbia Oil Building to be converted in to 15 Micro-Lofts and a brewery or distillery. The building is only 17,000SF so this is very compact. It will tie into the Steelcote Lofts project in name and design and will be the second pioneer development into this industrial area that could become a true mixed use neighborhood in a matter of years.
Developer: Pier Property Group (PPG)
Architect: Trivers
Builder: TBA
Cost: $4 Million
Construction Begin: Early March 2019
Construction End: Late October/Early November 2019
The current state of the building
Construction to begin soon as a Late 2019 opening is still anticipated. 15 Lofts and a Brewery/Distillery are planned. Cost remains $4 Million
Construction to begin in early March with construction ending roughly 8 months later in Late October/Early November.
View of the building from the roof of the Steelcote Lofts.
5500SF of retail will be on the first floor and is aimed towards a micro brewery or a distillery. This leaves the micro-lofts with roughly 11,500SF of space. The units themselves could be around 766SF in side, which isn't small until you have to factor in hallways, an additional staircase and whatever else will be squeezed into here.
The Preservation Board granted approval to the application to add this building to the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP).
Construction permit applied for. Should begin by the end of the month.
Whole building gutted. New roof was installed. Brickwork is happening. New concrete is being poured. I'll have some photo updates tomorrow.
